LUNA'S DAD AND QUIBBLER EDITOR

LAVENDER BROWN

She's a fellow Gryffindor, Pavarti Patil’s best friend, and Ron’s girl friend in their sixth year.  Does she have some hidden bravery we haven't seen yet?  I mean really hidden?

LEE JORDAN

Fred and George Weasleys' best friend and cohort in mischief, Lee is also a great Quidditch announcer.  At the end of OotP he continued on at Hogwarts after the twins dazzling exit.  But now he will have left Hogwarts. He is a business partner, I think.

LILY EVANS POTTER

Harry's mum, Lily Evans Potter (no relation to the nobody “Mark Evans” mentioned in OotP) was supposed to be born to muggle parents.  At least that is the way I am interpreting the information about Mum and Dad Evans that we've been given.

Lily was a really nice person and apparently an extraordinary witch in her own right, excellent at charms and a whiz at potions.  She was a favorite of both Professors Flitwick and Horace Slughorn.  Conjuring up ancient and powerful magic is no easy trick, I'm sure.  Her eyes were as green as are Harry's (in the books).  Does the color matter?  No, apparently not.  Dan Radcliff has gorgeous blue eyes, just to note the color difference.

In OotP when Harry uses the pensieve to see Snape’s memories he sees his mother, although she did nothing to encourage Snape’s affections she did stick up for him when James was hexing him.  She’s rather like Hermione standing up for the underdog regardless of her personal feelings about an individual.  We also see in Snape’s memories that Lily doesn’t think much of James showing off and Harry is down-right put out by his father’s manner, and that his mother appears to loathe his father.  He can’t understand how his mother could have married him based on what he saw in Snape’s memories.  But what Harry doesn’t take into consideration, but we should, is that Snape’s memories are obviously biased by Snape’s feelings of being the outsider and underdog.  James’s actions would be tarnished by that bias, as would Sirius’s, Lupin’s, and Lily’s too.  After all, she later married James and that would have an influence on how Snape remembered her too.

What could Lily's eyes do?  I believe they see beyond what others can see and more.

LORD VOLDEMORT AKD TOM RIDDLE (JR.)

Voldemort has taken special pains to be immortal and says there is nothing worse than death.  But if you ask me having your soul sucked out by a Dementor is definitely a worse fate.  It nearly happened to Sirius.  It did happen to Barty Crouch Jr.  Could this be Voldemort's fate that his faithful Dementors who have returned to him at the end of OotP will turn on him and suck out his soul at the end of Book 7?  It is one way to keep Harry from really having to murder him, but then in HBP we learn Voldy split his soul into seven parts and encapsulated six of them inside certain objects like his diary or even Nagini.  So, all of the horcruxes would have to be destroyed first before the Dementor’s kiss would really put an end to Voldemort’s immortality.

What were the special things that Voldemort did to keep stave off death?  He didn't have access to the Elixir of Life before his first attempt to kill Harry, or did he?  Perhaps he stole some from Nicholas Flammel.  Perhaps he had already killed a unicorn and drank its blood. One thought is that maybe he really didn't do anything but that when he attempted to kill baby Harry the spell that saved Harry's life also saved Voldemort's.  Of course, since ol' Voldythingy didn't have one drop of love in his heart or body in the first place, the pain of having it enter into him via such a violent way would have been horrific.  The love that saved Harry would have seemed like poison to Voldemort, and yet it could have saved him from death.  This in itself would have been a fate worse than death.  So when Voldemort took Harry's blood in GoF it makes sense that he was neutralizing some of the effects of the initial poison by adding more and so building up his immunity enough to be able to touch Harry.  Harry's blood is full of love and that has shown itself to have a nasty effect on Voldemort up until the end of GoF.  Harry's blood is just like Unicorn blood, if you think about it, and so would have the same effect in the end -- a half life, cursed life sentence for the one who takes it without permission.  Of course to add salt to the wound, so to speak, Voldemort would also have Spider Venom and Phoenix Tears in him too.  Phoenix song strikes fear in those who are not pure of heart while spiders in the H.P. series hate snakes.  Maybe we should be on the lookout for signs of an allergic reaction. It's worth just thinking about anyway.

But if you want to know what I really think, read my thoughts about THE PROPHECY.

LUCIUS MALFOY

To paraphrase an excellent House Elf --- He's a bad wizard. He's been contributing generous sums of money to St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries and to the Ministry of Magic (not to mention lining the pockets of Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic himself, no doubt).  He is also the most intimidating and frighteningly influential member on the Board of Magical Governors, using the fear of inflicting curses upon the other members so that they will vote his way.  And one more thing:  he's hiding a number of unknown items full of dark magic in his house.  Now I know that in PoA he sold several things to Mr. Borgin in Knockturn Alley and that Mr. Weasley raided the Malfoy residence and confiscated I don't know what but I'm sure Lucius has a few more black tricks (similar to Tom Riddle's diary that Harry gave back to him) hidden up his wizard's sleeve.

Lucius Malfoy's pure wizard blood is black through and through and his hatred for Harry, Hermione, and the Weasleys oozes from his evil pores.  Patients in the mental ward at St. Mungo's are in terrible peril of never regaining their memories or minds, and he may just try to eliminate them all together!

At the end of OOTP and throughout HBP, Lucius Malfoy is in Azkaban.  Will he escape?  Oh, I am sure he will.  And then?  Muggles, half-bloods, and all good wizards and witches be careful and beware if you see the dark mark appear overhead… get out from under ASAP!

But he too should be wary for I’m sure his master, the Dark Lord, is none too pleased with the bungling death eater.  If he were really clever, he would probably stay in Azkaban where it is probably safer for him.

More dark proof will materialize soon.  Keep checking back.

LUDO BAGMAN

Ludo is MIA.  But I don't think our former Quidditch star has an invisibility cloak.  He may be hiding out too but then the Goblins seem to know just where to find him.  I'm still digging for fool's gold here.  When I cash in I'll let you know.

LUNA LOVEGOOD

She's the same age as Ginny Weasley but is in Ravenclaw House at Hogwarts.  Luna has large eyes and a dreamy quality about her.  She shares a few things with Harry too.  While she's dreamy on the outside Harry's dreams are locked away in his head.  Like Harry she has experienced death first hand and both can see the Thestrals, the dragonesk horse-like creatures in Hagrid's care.  She is also considered "different" than everyone else.  Harry, although he looks and acts like everybody else, is definitely treated differently because he is "the boy who lived” and as of HBP “the Chosen One.”  Will Neville see stars in Luna's eyes soon?  I think they make a perfect couple.

LUNA'S DAD AND QUIBBLER EDITOR

One man's rubbish is another man's treasure, and I think Mr. Lovegood has a lot of gems stored in his trunk.  They may be unpolished but I'm sure we'll see some sparklers ignite the pages of the Quibbler.  I can't wait to see what a Crumple-Horned-Snorkhack looks like.   Perhaps Hermione should also subscribe to his paper in addition to the Daily Prophet... she might just profit better from Mr. Lovegood's words of wizdom.
